This working paper looks at how to structure a people performance management (PPM) system and how it can support a strong employee and team performance incentive system.

People performance management covers the activities associated with managing an organisation’s human capital in support of organisational goal delivery. Good incentive systems require good people performance management systems - to inform incentive allocation decisions and to encourage the right employee behaviours. This paper looks at the setting and evaluating of employee goals as a precursor to good incentive system design.
