This case study looks at work 2GC undertook for a small services company in the UK - the work was to design and implement a top level Balanced Scorecard, and to cascade it down into its divisions.
Zenith was a relatively small organisation, and so the methods used had to be both practical and appropriate - Zenith was concerned that a big ‘corporate’ solution would be too complex and too expensive for its needs.
We worked with the Executive Board, the quality management team, and divisional management teams to design and implement a strategic performance management system that matched Zenith’s requirements. The work demonstrated that strategic alignment and cascading work does not need to be restricted to large corporate groups. The case also highlights some general factors that should be considered when undertaking work of this nature, in particular concerning the choice of design approach, and project team composition.
